Girls on the Run

If you have a daughter in grades 3–5, please share this email with them!

Girls on the Run wants you!

Are you a girl in Grade 3-5?  Would you like to:
* Join a team
* Learn Life Skills
* Laugh and have fun with your friends
* Learn to exercise and be healthy

Please come to the presentation tomorrow morning at the school (exact location and time will be announced in the morning) to learn all about Girls on the Run.
Information forms will be handed out at the presentation and registration is on-line.

This highly successful program is a positive youth development program which combines training for a non-competitive 5k run/walk with an interactive curriculum to develop self respect and healthy lifestlyes.

The 10 week curriculum, led by Beatty parents, will run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:45 from April to June 2013.  The program ends with a 5k celebration where all the GOTR girls from all schools will come together with their families to celebrate their successful completion of the program.

GOTR is not a running program - it is a program that is totally non-competitive. What does that mean? It means that you don't have to worry about  running  a certain speed - because the only person you  are competing against is yourself.

Young girls are enpowered with a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement, and a foundation in team building to help them become strong and self confident women.

2nd Annual Enchantment Under the Stairs - An Enchanting Luau

On Feb. 23 Enchantment will be back by popular demand - this time with an Hawaiian flare.  The evening will include a silent auction, food, drink, music, a raffle for West Jet tickets, and a live auction of selected items.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to pull together an awesome auction

Experience tells us that if you know the person you are asking, getting amazing donations is much easier. And, experience also tells us if we have 400 people asking for one donation each, we can put together some pretty incredible live and silent auction packages.

You may think you don't know anyone worth asking, or that its hard. But many places will want to give you a donation, especially if it is a place that you are connected to, or a place that would like to advertise to Earl Beatty parents.

Here are a few ideas to help you get started:
  • Do you work for a telecommunications company, a bank or other large corporation with a corporate box or seasons tickets?
  • Do you know a lawyer who can provide a wills and estate planning package?
  • Will your gym or yoga studio donate a membership or package of visits?
  • Do you work at one of the local attractions?  Science Centre, ROM, Harbourfront?
  • Will your favorite restaurant donate a dinner for two?
  • Do you know wine makers or distributors, butchers, chefs?
  • Do you have connections to the entertainment, music, or film industry?
Please connect with Erica and Lori at earl.beatty.enchantment@gmail.com  - we hope to have all donations in by February 15th

Thanks so much for your help and hope to see you all again this year!

Attached is a poster for the event as well as letter you can use to make a more formal request for donations if required.
